Event Description

In honor of Tupac Amaru Shakur’s 43rd Birthday, Sellassie presents a celebration in San Francisco.  Hosted by Sellassie, the celebration will feature 5 hours of all 2Pac music, one of the greatest and brightest MCs and voice in Hip Hop of all time.  Come out and dance, party and reminisce!

While 2Pac was most famous for his rap career, he was also a gifted actor, poet and thoughtful outspoken advocate of the poor and the overlooked in America.  2Pac was, and is an inspiration to millions. During his life, he produced an immense amount of artistic work, which included studio albums, major Hollywood feature films, and published works.  He was most prolific in the music industry, selling over 75 million albums, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.   2Pac’s unapologetic lyrics were relevant, important, and reflective. His music earned attention and respect through a poetic style that embraced street vocabulary while being innovative. His significance is widespread; 2Pac's hit song "Dear Mama" is one of 25 songs that were added to the National Recording Registry in 2010. The Library of Congress has called "Dear Mama" "a moving and eloquent homage to both the murdered rapper's own mother and all mothers struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty and societal indifference." Today, 2Pac is still considered by many to be one of the biggest influences on modern hip-hop.

About Sellassie:

Sellassie has carved his niche as a leading progressive voice in San Francisco Bay Area Hip Hop.  With an acclaimed and award-winning debut release, I’m Tryin’ to Make a Livin’ Not a Killin’, followed by the works; Sins of Your Forefathers and Stop Hatin in the Bay Remix by Traxamillion, this upcoming emcee has garnered a street level buzz with a fresh perspective.   Sellassie is proof that there are young black artists that can make music that is creative, street, positive and smart.  He stands firm to his message, has a charismatic presence and is evidence that not every rapper raps negatively, glorifying drugs, guns, money or their ego.  He is also the creator and co-producer of the Independent Artist Series, 2Racks Rap Contest + We All We Got.
