“The East Bay ’s Most Multi-Talented Musician” Headlines a Dynamic Musical Event

Kev Choice – recently dubbed “The East Bay’s Most Multi-Talented Musician” by the East Bay Express – presents the second installment of “Emergence,” a new monthly musical showcase featuring some of the freshest up-and-coming musical talent from the Bay Area and beyond.

The show spotlights conceptually-themed works by Choice’s 10-piece band, the Kev Choice Ensemble -- who take hip-hop in a new and exciting musical direction, seamlessly incorporating elements of funk, jazz, soul, and even classical into the mix. Joining Kev this month is Dynamic -- an Oakland-based hip-hop/jazz/funk combo featuring soulful chanteuse Kimiko Joy -- arriving hot on the heels of its first place finish in the “Bay Rising Battle of the Bands” competition (which took place August 27 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco).

Rounding out the evening will be the eclectic, Diaspora-spanning selections of DJ Afrikan Sciences as well as some deep crate-digging by the legendary Davey D (Hard Knock Radio/Breakdown FM). Honoring the Bay’s rich musical legacy while nudging the envelope forward, Choice and his collaborators aim to prove hip-hop isn’t dead, it’s live – all the way live, in fact.
