MC Serch spoke to VladTV about 3rd Base being signed to Def Jam and their first single being "Steppin' to the A.M.," which he said was written with Rakim in mind. Serch explained that Def Jam's Lyor Cohen asked him to help write for Rakim, who Cohen said was having writer's block.

To hear more of the story, including how Eric B and MC Serch haven't talked since then, hit the above clip.
