The Hype Magazine Interviews Dj Bigg V

What is the significance of your name and how did you get that name?

I got my name from High School. It started as Vicious V and morphed into Big V then Bigg V later.

    Describe your style?

Aggressive and Energetic with an XXX flare that can only be tamed in a Corporate environment. [Laughs] It is a style that can be enjoyed by people who want to leave all their issues and problems behind, take it out inside the party and leave it there.

What was the first record you start scratching and mixing on the turntables?

The first record that I ever scratched was Al Naafiysh "The Soul."

You are a pretty diverse DJ, describe the music scene in your neck of the woods?

The MS Delta music scene is an eclectic mix of a lot of genres including but not limited to Blues, Hip Hop, House, Ghetto House, Jig, Bounce and of course Southern Style rap tunes.

How is it to work live sets with some of today's biggest stars?

It is always awesome to help orchestrate a performance with an artist to help enhance the experience. I have been fortunate enough to continue to rock parties, radio shows and stages all over the country and It Won't Stop!

Who and what are your influences?

GOD, Love for People and DJ's that have set a standard of beating the odds to make their presence felt by small crowds all the way to the masses are my influences.

What artists are you listening to right now?

The artists that I am listening to today are Yo Gotti, French Montana, Rich Homie Quan, Fiend, Future, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross and a laundry list of Independent Artists from all over the U.S.

Who would you like to work with in the future?

Any upcoming Independent Artist that has the "Testicular Fortitude" aka courage to get out and invest in their own career and put in the work it takes to get to the next level, without hesitating and whining like someone owes them something.

What would be the steps you would take as a Dj to Break an artist in your area?

Meet and greets mixed with good music as well as physical product in the streets, combined with an aggressive online campaign with a grass roots approach for example. (Beauty Shops, Barber Shops, Clubs, Carwashes, College campuses, Urban clothing stores, other retail outlets & restaurants) You must add in radio mixshows to enhance all of the other things as well. In addition, magazine ads are a great tool, "For example The Hype Magazine!!!!"

Do you prefer radio or live DJing?
I prefer live DJing.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

Live the Life You Love....Love the Life You Live.....More Money = Less Problems!

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!”

Rocked a Party (Ventura's Lounge) so hard that Random women got naked, the crazy part is a few got Naked with a WOLF P****. That is not a good look!
