- From 1998 to 2001, Amanda worked as an editor at the online arts & entertainment publication, Citysearch.com, in San Francisco. She has also contributed to the music sections of the Oakland Tribune and the San Francisco Examiner as well as the literary section of the Austin American Statesman. She currently writes about hip-hop and Latin popular culture for the SF Bay Guardian. She's also completing her doctorate in cultural anthropology for the University of Texas at Austin. Her dissertation focuses on regional identity and cultural poetics in the Bay Area hip-hop scene.
