On Friday, November 17, the legendary godfather of hardcore reality rap and possibly the most influential rapper of the South, Scarface, will be performing live on stage at the New Parish for his first Northern California live show in years.

Face’s catalog is dense with underground hits and street classics both as a solo act having released twelve full-length albums and with his crew, the Geto Boys who put out seven records. Singles include hits, I Never Seen A Man Cry, Smile (featuring 2pac), Fuck Faces (featuring Too Short), My Block, Girl You Know (featuring Trey Songz), Mr. Scarface is Back and also My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me, Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangster, Still and Gangster of Love recorded with the Geto Boys.

Scarface, who ran Def Jam South as President and Coordinator since 2000, is responsible for developing and discovering numerous Southern rap acts including Ludacris who he originally signed. At the 2001 Source Awards, Scarface garnered a Lyricist of the Year award for The Diary and The Last of a Dying Breed, two releases that reaped tremendous critical support and strong album sales.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force
