Event Description

MISERY INDEX
Monday, June 3rd @ 8:00pm
The Rite Spot (2099 Folsom @ 17th)
3 blocks from 16th & Mission BART
NO COVER!

Let’s face it. Things aren’t going great: a bad economy, a horrible job market, never ending wars, exorbitant rent prices, dysfunctional relationships, mental illness, addiction, poverty, corruption, STDs, Rihanna. While there isn’t a cure for all of life’s problems, there is a tonic…

MISERY INDEX is a free, monthly show that brings together some of the most pessimistic, neurotic & dysfunctional individuals on the face of the planet: stand-up comedians. Take the edge off with cheap drinks and free laughs as these choleric comics direct their disdain towards all of society’s growing ills.

June’s lineup features maladjusted mirth makers David Gborie (Bridgetown Comedy Fest), James Fluty (Hand to Mouth), Jesse Elias (Outside Lands), Karinda Dobbins (Punch Line), Jon Schabl (Write Now! on Nerdist Network), Christopher John (Cobb’s) and Land Smith (Talkies) with special guests Sad Vicious (comedy/music/madness). Hosted by Trevor Hill (Hand to Mouth).

Every First Monday of the Month!

The Rite Spot is a cozy Mission dive that features local bands, comedians and performers. A rare San Francisco luxury set in an unpretentious atmosphere featuring Italian-American food, a full bar and an excellent wine list. “Aside from a little low conversation and the occasional clink of a glass, people are there to listen, and what they’re listening to is top-notch.” -SF Weekly

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV.
