This New Year’s Eve, Tastemaker Live and Sean Healy Presents will be capping off a sensational year of live music in the bay area with a bang. Bringing in 2012 at the cozy confines of the Shattuck Downlow in Berkeley is Houston’s favorite son and the Bay Area’s favorite visiting relative, the crown prince of puffing purple, Devin the Dude live on stage.

Known for his laid back drawl, sing-song delivery, comedic antics and high likelihood that he will smoke and drink your most unabashed partying uncle under the table, Devin is consistently the coolest cat in the room and a captivating stage performer to boot. On Saturday night, New Year’s Eve, join TML, SHP, Devin and some of your favorite local MCs and DJs for beer, blunts, bombastic beats and the bubbly as we take off for 2012. Anything less would be uncivilized.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV.
