Event Description

Berkeley Community Media (BCM) and La Peña Cultural Center present the 8th Annual BCM Summer Shorts Movie Jam: 48 Hour Filmmaker Challenge.

What are you going to say you did for the Summer of 2018? Do you have some hidden talent that you are waiting for the right moment to share with the world? Have your friends told you that you were too dramatic? Well, BCM has the event of a lifetime for your creative endeavors. Are you ready to form random teams with people you just met and spend the weekend hashing out story lines and filming ideas? Then we want YOU, adventurous spirit, to be part of the 8th AnnualBCM Summer Shorts Movie Jam: 48 hour Filmmaker Challenge. Join us the weekend of August 31-September 2nd to create a 5-10 minute film in just 48 hours!

LAUNCH PARTY AT MELO MELO KAVA BAR

Friday, August 31st at 5pm-6pm (1701 University Avenue Berkeley).

Form a team and join the fun or meet people at the launch to form a spontaneous team. Teams will be given 3 secret clues which must be included in the film!

Team registration is $15 and includes one free admission to the screening on September 2nd. Registration is payable to Berkeley Community Media at the launch party.

Teams will return with their completed film exactly 48 hours later by 6pm Sunday, September 2nd to La Peña Cultural Center (3105 Shattuck Avenue Berkeley)

SCREENING AT LA PEÑA CULTURAL CENTER

Sunday, September 2nd at 7pm (3105 Shattuck Avenue Berkeley.)

Teams who successfully complete the challenge will screen their films in front of a live audience. Audience admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Doors open at 6:30pm /Show starts at 7pm
