Former Bad Boy rapper Black Rob has passed away at the age of 51. The news was confirmed by Mark Curry, who is also a former Bad Boy rapper himself. In a video he shared to social media, Curry said, “I don’t know where to begin this, but I thank everybody for the donations. [Black] Rob passed away about an hour ago.”
While a cause of death is unknown at the moment, Rob’s death comes after a string of health issues that included a stroke back in late 2014/early 2015. After a recent hospital stay he revealed that he’s suffered from four strokes over the past few years.
Born in New York, Rob would release his first album, Life Story, on Bad Boy in 2000. The project would become his best-selling full-length effort and house his most popular single, with “Whoa!” His most recent project came in 2015 with Genuine Article.
