Soulful songstress Goapele will be returning to our speakers this year with her brand new album 'Strong As Glass.' The singers fifth studio effort has been preceded by the fun and flirty single “Hey Boy,” and promises to be a slight departure from her often mellow soul sound.
As fans of the Oakland native, we were blessed by Goapele’s presence during her recent promo trip to NYC. Being the latest artist to perform for our 'ThisisRnB Sessions' series, the “Milk & Honey” singer awed us with her grace and beauty.
Joining us at Stadiumred Studios in Harlem, Goapele performed a two-song set opening with an a cappella rendition of the classic Jazz standard “At Last,” famously sung by Etta James. For her second song Goapele let loose showing off some of her fun and playful side as she sang "Hey Boy" set to the funky instrumental. Even over the track the singer delivered a stunning vocal and made us feel like we were right there when she recorded the song.
