Colston, a hip-hop artist from Asheville, North Carolina, adds his mountain and Appalachian tinge in his new mixtape, "Uppercuts," to the sounds of Drake, J.Cole, Lorde, Sublime, Nicki Manaj, Meek Mill, Wu Tang, Young Jeezy, The Neighborhood and Joey BadAss. Some of the records remain consistent to the original while others were reconstructed with southern vibes through fiddles, guitar solos, bongos and more.

Colston has performed alongside the resurgence of some of hip-hop’s best such as Mobb Deep, Rapper Big Pooh, Nappy Roots, and Gift of Gab to name a few. He has become a staple in his local town. If ever in Asheville, you can name drop “Colston” and all recognize the name. Taking on his solo career after separating from duo, Crazyhorse and Colston, “Uppercuts” strives to be the mixtape that expands his popularity outside of the Appalachian city-limits.
