“Never give up! Don’t listen to what people say…believe in yourself before you believe in others.” Cap A

By Marques the Writer

New Jersey is a state that is home to many notable figures- from famed doctors and lawyers to athletes, entertainers, and every role in between. One local who is determined to leave his mark in history is a savvy-minded, determined, and articulate young man known to the music world as Cap A.

Cap A is a very in-depth lyricist who began writing at the age of ten. His love for music was seemingly inherited, as his father and uncle were both musicians. Another key influence is his best friend/mentor, DJ Vision, who was very fundamental in helping the young artist to develop self-esteem and constantly pushed him to want to excel. Some of his other influences include legendary musical icons such as: Mobb Deep, Biggie Smalls, Ice Cube, Big Pun, Luther Vandross, and Tina Marie. “I feel that the founding generation contributed something unique to hip-hop and is partially influenced by each,” he said.

The 26 year-old rising star has collaborated with many talented artists and producers in his local area including: Blaze 1, Zulu, Sauce Boss, and FuityLoopKing. FruityLoopKing was once signed with Crunchy Black's (from Oscar and Academy Award winning group 3-6 Mafia) record label. His most memorable accomplishment is the acquiring of his first home studio, which later led to the release four mixtapes. One of the reasons that this is a significant accomplishment for him is because it was self-funded and required many hours of relentless hard work. In 2008, the savvy artist formed his own record-label, Council Music.

The registered ASCAP member have an abundance of experience with performing live including: open mic showcases, festivals, parades, contests, block parties, and at the popular Miami strip club, K.O.D. (King of Diamonds). His biggest performance opportunity to-date is a live performance in the Dominican Day Parade held in Bronx, NY (approximately 250k spectators).
Cap A is currently promoting his new mixtape/EP entitled, “The Confirmation". He is also in the planning stages of recording a follow-up project that is expected to solidify his buzz tremendously and continue to raise the bar for independent artists across the nation.
