Since 1998, DJs Haul and Mason have been rockin’ dance floors across Southern California in clubs from Santa Monica to Downtown LA. They can be found spinning along side some of LA’s most influential DJ’s like Madlib, Cut Chemist, Z-Trip and Rhettmatic. Full-time DJ and producer, Haul is a resident DJ at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, The Rhythm Room, and co- founder/ resident at Club Popcorn at Zen Sushi in Silver Lake. Along with Mason, he is a full-time member of Dakah, LA’s 60 piece Hip-Hop Orchestra, and the afro-latin group, The Rhythm Room All Stars. Both of which will be releasing their full-length albums this summer. He recently just completed an EP for his co-founded hip-hop band, Hustle, and has been playing gigs around LA. In addition to holding down residencies at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica and at his own Soundoff! events, Mason is locking down gigs and finishing records for Dakah, LA’s 60-piece hip-hop orchestra, and The Rhythm Room All Stars. He is also co-founder of DJ and DJummers, a dance floor-minded turntable and percussion quartet, and plans to release their first album late this year. The duo recently won URB Magazine’s Annual Mixtape Contest. They produced a 2 x4 set that layered tracks from Beck, Roots Manuva, and No Doubt on top of beats from Michael Jackson and Pearl Jam. The grand prize was to mix the URB August CD Sampler, which went out to over 30,000 subscribers and to URB sponsored events across the country. Their groove-oriented style, and hip-hop based style artfully blended tracks from artists like Roots Manuva, Bilal, Lootpack, El-P, Blackalicious and Slum Village. They even threw in some gems from their own original productions, Hustle, Rhythm Room All Stars, DJ and DJummers, as well as cuts from L.A. based Hip-Hop Orchestra, Dakah. Haul and Mason recently played at the Playboy pre-Super Bowl party in San Diego and in New Orleans at the Voodoo Festival along side Cut Chemist, Z-Trip and Jurassic 5. This past August they performed with the Dakah Hip-Hop Orchestra to a crowd of over 3,000 people at Downtown’s California Plaza and starting In October, DJ Haul and Mason will be hosting Quality, every 1st and 3rd and 5th Saturday at Zanzibar in Santa Monica, where they will be throwing doing their signature 2 X 4 sets along side special guest DJs including David Alvarado, Josh One and the Allies.
