DJ Design's interest in hip-hop began in 1979, when he first heard a song by Sugarhill Gang, the name of which he now forgets. Fast forward to 1986, when Keith decides to borrow brother Richie's Yamaha turntable, bought a Pyramid 10 band EQ mixer (with echo), and completed the set with a gem of a used record player he found at Salvation Army. Equipment in hand, plus a stack of old records handed down to him by his father ( who had the baddest collection of Soul and Rock LP's in all of Vietnam), Keith was poised to carry on the funk legacy. Eleven years later, DJ Design finds his first production on wax, with part time cohort, Rasco. Soon to follow was a full time gig with his current group, Foreign Legion, garnering much underground respect worldwide. One day while shopping (stealing) with Peanut Butter Wolf for ashtrays, Keith slipped a cassette of beats into Wolfs car stereo. Ecstatic with what he heard, Design soon found himself a member of the Stones Throw roster, and released the compelling instrumental album, Gather Round. Oh yeah, he also did the best remix for the Beastie Boys "Negotiation Limerick File", but he's not really one to boast. In closing, DJ Design has reached international player status, ya feel me?
