Thundercat took to Jimmy Kimmel Live recently to perform “Black Qualls,” the first single from his forthcoming new album It Is What It Is, alongside Flying Lotus, Steve Lacy, and Steve Arrington (Slave). Toward the end of the performance, Thundercat also offered a brief tribute to the late Mac Miller, interpolating his song “What’s The Use?” from his 2018 album Swimming.
Thundercat has released two singles from his upcoming album: “Black Qualls” and “Dragonball Durag,” the latter of which he recently released a music video for. The video finds Thundercat hilariously shooting his shot at Quinta Brunson, Kali Uchis, and Haim, only to fail (mostly) miserably.
