As an extension of his ongoing criminal justice reform initiative, Meek Mill is set to detail his fight for freedom in an upcoming Amazon docu-series. Executive-produced by JAY-Z and Roc Nation, Free Meek flips a hashtag into a heartfelt and honest plea for systematic changes to the carceral system.
According to Rolling Stone, Free Meek will examine the rapper’s case in particular — having been arrested in 2017 for the violation of his probation from a prior conviction — offering “unprecedented access to the star’s life, career, and criminal justice odyssey, while demonstrating the negative effects long tail probation is having on urban communities of color,” per a statement from Amazon.
After being previewed at one of the rapper’s recent shows, the Free Meek trailer arrived today, featuring clips of concert footage, court documents, and snapshots of Philadelphia. A release date has yet to be revealed, but the trailer points towards summer for landing.
