A new trailer has arrived for Stanley Nelson‘s upcoming Miles Davis documentary, Birth of The Cool.
The teaser offers a glimpse at Nelson’s comprehensive lens into the life and art of a jazz giant. The film features interviews with an extensive roster or former affiliates and fellow icons, including Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Carlos Santana, Frances Davis, and more. The trailer also touches on Miles’ many transformations, from beacon of bebop’s new cool to psychedelic fusion frontrunner, even delving into the trumpeter’s battle with substance abuse.
Earlier this year, Birth of The Cool premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim. The film will see a limited release in Los Angeles’ Landmark Theater and New York City’s Film Forum on August 30th, expanding to other theaters in September.
