While Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow are likely collecting their accolades at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards on October 1 in Atlanta, the Hip Hop Museum of Washington, D.C. will be preparing to honor several Hip Hop legends at a star-studded gala.
According to a press release, Rakim, Pete Rock, the late Heavy D, Kid Capri, Nice & Smooth, Kool Moe Dee and late legendary record producer Chucky Thompson will all be inducted at The Grand Induction Gala on October 8 as Hip Hop’s forthcoming 50th birthday looms.
Hosted by comedian and Hip Hop aficionado Russell Peters, the event will feature a live taping of Peters’ podcast Culturally Cancelled. The Gala will also feature the Hip Hop Museum’s Executive Director, Master Gee of The Sugarhill Gang, Chief Rocker Busy Bee and Das EFX MC Krazy Drayz as well as Hip Hop historian Jay Quan, who will deliver the induction speeches.
