Nick Cannon to Release Nipsey Hussle's Dr. Sebi Doc, Vows to Carry on His Legacy

Cannon pledged to finish working on Hussle’s unfinished film project about Sebi’s 1985 AIDS trial.
Nick Cannon just made a pledge.

The actor and rapper announced his vow to finish working on Nipsey Hussle’s unfinished Dr. Sebi documentary, in a commitment to honor the slain rapper’s work and legacy.

Cannon posted a photo of himself with the late artist to Instagram on Monday with a caption stating he’s continuing Hussle’s legacy.

“Where you left off, we gonna carry one! It’s a MARATHON, so I’m picking up the baton!” Cannon wrote, adding, “now your Spirit is protecting your community eternally! Your words, your steps, your walk always was and always will be SOLID! Now, Your message is my message! Your work is my work! I know you still rocking with us and your voice will never be silenced.”

Cannon then posted multiple videos of past Dr. Sebi interviews. In the caption for one post, he wrote, “We have to take RESPONSIBILITY for our OWN!! #Marathon.”

Hussle had spoken about Sebi and the film project which sought to center the popular Honduras-born herbalist’s 1985 trial. Sebi had infamously claimed to have the cure for AIDS and went to trial with the U.S. government. After New York City charged him with a criminal charge of practicing medicine without a license, he was acquitted because jurors claimed the state failed to show he made a medical diagnosis as an herbalist.

Sebi died on August 6, 2016, in Honduras. In March 2016, he had been arrested for money laundering. He died in police custody due to complications from pneumonia.

Many conspiracy theorists argue that he was murdered in tandem with the idea that a cure for AIDS would interrupt the profits of big pharma.
