A Bay Area documentary is coming to NBC.
“The Culture of Hip Hop” documentary honoring and exploring Bay Area hip-hop features commentary from legends like E-40 and Too Short, to new stars like Saweetie, G-Eazy, Kamaiyah and more.
The one-hour project sets out to examine the region’s influence in West Coast rap and beyond and also includes interviews with Bay Area DJs Big Von and Chuy Gomez, and hip-hop historian Davey D.
Too Short appears in the doc’s official trailer, saying, “Nobody else from the West Coast can do it like the Bay Area.”
“The Bay Area is home to a thriving Hip Hop scene, producing legendary artists who paved their own road, and emerging talent who are using their skills and creativity to express the reality of life in our neighborhoods,” President and General Manager of NBC Bay Area, Stacy Owen said in a press statement. “In Culture of Hip Hop, we’re able to connect with the people behind the personas and show why hip-hop is more than just a music genre.”
