Beastie Boys member Mike D has revealed that the master tapes for the trio’s debut album, License to Ill, are lost.

Speaking with A Tribe Called Quest‘s Q-Tip on his Beats 1 show “Echo Chamber,” Mike D said that no one can the masters for the album.

“No, License to Ill, we don’t have. License to Ill, like nobody can find it — I’m not even lying,” he said when Q-Tip asked if he has the masters for License to Ill or Paul’s Boutique. “You know that Def Jam sh** is all f**ked up. Nobody can find anything.”

“Rick [Rubin] doesn’t have any of it?” Q-Tip asked.

“No…Literally nobody can find s**t,” Mike D responded.
