Last month, with an overturned conviction, Meek Mill was removed from probation after spending a decade between incarceration and court-mandated regulations. Following July’s development of a new presiding judge and the removal of probation, Meek had been awaiting word surrounding a possible re-trial of his 2007 arrest in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This morning (August 27), those dozen-year-old charges were formally dropped at the Stout Criminal Justice Center in Meek’s native city. Common Pleas Court Judge Leon Tucker dropped all remaining charges after Meek pled guilty to illegal possession of a firearm tied to the South Philly arrest. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the 32-year-old Robert Rihmeek Williams faces no further penalty. As recently as last year, the Dreamchasers Records founder had served several stints in prison for violating said probation in what has become a very high-profile legal battle.

Notably, the judge also mentioned that although decades apart, he and the artist were both onetime students of Strawberry Mansion High School in the city. Tucker also applauded Mill’s community activism and criminal justice reform efforts. Those have been widely publicized following the rapper’s spring 2018 bail release from a Chester, Pennsylvania prison cell.
