The new Janelle Monáe single will appear on Amazon’s Stacy Abrams documentary.
Later this month, Amazon Prime will release All In: The Fight for Democracy. The documentary focuses on voting rights and voter suppression, and heavily features Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams. In conjunction with the project, Janelle Monáe has released a new single, “Turntables.” On Tuesday, Janelle released the “emotion picture” for the song.

The track sticks to the theme of the documentary. Monáe calls America a “lie,” and promises “a new agenda, a new dream…kicking out the old regime.”

The release is the first from Janelle Monáe since her 2018 album Dirty Computer, which peaked at number six on the US Billboard charts, and number four on the US R&B and Hip-Hop charts.

All In: The Fight for Democracy hits select theaters on September 9, then arrives on Amazon Prime Video nine days later. The film’s release will also be paired with a social impact campaign designed to demystify the voting process during an election year that will heavily rely on mail-in and absentee ballots. In Abrams’ 2018 gubernatorial campaign, Georgia governor Brian Kemp reportedly daleyd the process of 53,000 voting applicants, and in six years before the campaign, purged more than 1.4 million name’s from the state’s voter registry.
