It’s been roughly two years (at the time of this post) since J.I.D released his DiCaprio 2 project. Since then the Dreamville artist has racked up numerous accolades, collaborated with the likes of Conway the Machine and Dua Lipa, and reunited with his Spillage Village crew to release the group’s major label debut Spilligion.
While his fans (and the DopeHouse) awaits the release of The Forever Story, J.I.D has been treating fans to a stream of loose offerings, including his latest drop, the Christo-laced “Skegee.”
An abbreviation of Tuskegee, a historically black university in Alabama who once recruited J.I.D during his football days, the song finds the Atlanta rapper speaking on both the city and school’s history – which includes the infamous and dehumanizing “Tuskegee Experiment.”
“We all know Black History is every month, but I wanted to drop something to highlight this month specifically,” J.I.D says.
