The go-go bill needs to clear another council vote and be approved by Mayor Muriel E. Bowser before taking effect.
Go-go could very well become the official music of Washington, D.C.
A bill titled the “Go-Go Official Music of the District of Columbia Designation Act of 2019” was unanimously voted in favor of on Tuesday by the D.C. council, according to the Washington Post. However, in order for the legislation to take effect, it needs to clear another council vote and be approved by Mayor Muriel E. Bowser.
Through the bill, Bowser would also be expected to “design and implement a program to support and preserve, including through marketing, and archive Go-Go music and documents relating to Go-Go music and its history.”
