DJ Premier has shared a new Gang Starr song called “Glowing Mic.” Hear the track, featuring a previously unreleased verse from the late Guru, below (via Rolling Stone).

DJ Premier told Rolling Stone that he made the instrumental for “Glowing Mic” based on Guru’s lyrics “Mr. Gang Starr, I make it do what it do/So true, classic like the Fu Manchu.” He explained that he looked for a “sound that would bring that traditional style that we are known for to match his lyrics and tone.”

In a press release, Preemo continued, “There are two versions of a song called ‘Mr. Gang Starr,’ one version was released right after Guru passed away. The version I had stored away has totally different and unreleased lyrics. As I was constructing the track, I found a scratch from Torae ‘I Destroy The Mic for My Glow’ and it was an instant decision on what to name the track ‘Glowing Mic.’”
