One day after R. Kelly was convicted on all counts in his case of violence and sex trafficking, Chuck D. talks about the potential jail time the R&B singer may face after formal sentencing.
With his Twitter account, Public Enemy member Kelly compared the case to the case of Ike Turner, who was convicted of drug offenses, and Rick James, who was imprisoned after a kidnapping and torture. Each served 18 months and three years, respectively.
“Abused in his youth … an addict as an adult … Ike Turner served 18 months in prison. Rick James made similar time. Ike came out of a changed positive person, ”Chuck tweeted. “How long should R Kelly spend in prison – and does a US system give a man a chance for a man to change his world?”
He added: “It is not a sympathetic question at all. Not least. ”
In another tweet, the rapper said the radio industry “maintained” many of the blurred boundaries between adult activities and what children should be involved in.
