De La Soul had a public feud with Tommy Boy Records throughout last year over a negotiation deal over streaming royalties on the group’s back catalog. The feud seemed to come to an end in August when the group said it was ending its relationship with the record company. Now, Posdnuos has offered an update on where the group stands with Tommy Boy in a new interview.
Speaking with Creative Loafing: Tampa Bay, Posdnuos said that Tommy Boy has “sort of came back to the table” in regards to discussing a streaming deal that offers the group a fair cut of the profits.
“…we are looking to sort of get it going,” he said. “At the end of the day, of course, it’s money to be earned. We feel like we deserve [it], but for us it’s really about the fans.”
