Event Description

TEACH-IN & AFTERPARTY FOR HERMAN BELL
THerman Bell has been incarcerated for over 30 years for his work to liberate his people as a member of the Black Panther Party in San Francisco.
He is a member of the SF 8 and continues to work for freedom for all oppressed people, from behind bars at SF county jail. This Tuesday is his birthday, and we are raising funds for his legal fees and the ongoing work to free him.
Herman Bell is a cherished community leader and elder, as well as the father of Ankh Marketing's Kamel Bell.
Additionally, we will be holding a teach-in from 9-10pm addressing the history of activism in the Bay Area, moderated by our brother Davey D.
The panel will address Herman's case, the case of Oscar Grant who was murdered by BART police early on January 1, 2009 and the history of police repression and violence against our communities. Come early, enjoy a thought-provoking discussion with some of the Bay's most active folks and stay for the party FREE of cover charge!

DJ LUMUMBA aka REVOLUTION (BLACK AUGUST, NYC)
We are VERY honored to welcome New York's DJ Lumumba aka Revolution to PST for his debut set! A community organizer, father, priest, college professor, and highly-respected DJ he co-founded the historic Black August project, which brought artists like Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Common to Cuba and Brazil to perform live and interact with community members and organizers in those countries. And trust us -- he goes just as hard on the turntables!!
ALL PROCEEDS COLLECTED AT THE DOOR THIS WEEK AT PST WILL BE DONATED TO HERMAN BELL AND TO THE FAMILY OF OSCAR GRANT!!
BECAUSE FREEDOM ain't FREE.....

The Hated Crew to Release Highly Anticipated Album “DNA” June 5th

More than just another project, DNA represents the core identity of The Hated Crew—its influences, struggles, sound, and artistic vision woven together into one cohesive body of work. The title itself reflects the idea that music is embedded in the group’s very makeup. Every track explores the elements that form their musical “genetic code”: rhythm, storytelling,…See More

Cole Lumpkin Moves With the Music, Letting Life Shape Every Note

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation. Music for Lumpkin isn’t something you step into once everything is figured out. It’s something you carry with you, refine on the move, and allow to grow alongside real life. A self-taught…See More
