 of Cuba, Orquesta La Moderna Tradición dedicates itself to the perfor
 mance of classic Cuban dance music, especially the lilting grooves of 
 the danzon. A legendary ballroom style that developed from the synchro
 nization of African and European music in Cuba, danzon lends the groov
 e of Afro-Cuban drums to the refined riffs of flute and violins. Orque
 sta La Moderna Tradición performs classics of the genre along with or
 iginal compositions designed to keep the tradition alive and kicking. 
 In addition to danzones, Orquesta plays the gambit of traditional and 
 modern Cuban styles, from sones to songos, from cha-cha-cha to timba.\
