DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nMartin Luther McCoy was born in San Francisco, Cali
 fornia. A summer child who bathed in the sweet soul music of the seven
 ties and found himself a Bill Withers and Sam Cooke fan before bei
 ng properly introduced to the electrifying perennial funk mob, Parlia
 ment Funkadelic. A life long student of music, Martin began writing so
 ngs as early as age 6 and would rearrange the gospel songs he learned 
 in church. The influence of San Francisco’s cultural melting pot all
 owed him to gain a great appreciation for rock and roll. His voice is 
 anointed with the ethers of the gospel church but his pen speaks to si
 nners and saints alike.\nA graduate of Morehouse College, Luther start
 ed his own label Rebel Soul Records and has continued to defy the laws
  of traditional RnB /Neo Soul artists by melding indie soul and indie 
 rock into a genre he aptly calls Rebel Soul. “What is more important
 , making history or making excuses?” is written on the ceiling right
  above the studio console where Martin put the finishing touches on hi
 s fourth studio release, American Gold (Spring 2012) that he calls �
 �� mine music… music for the times. There’s gold in the hills of o
 ur mind, we just have to mine it. Open up our thoughts and grow. It’
 s all about expansion.” Martin started releasing his own music with 
 his debut ‘’The Calling’’ in 1999 to critical acclaim. His sop
 homore release, ‘’Rebel Soul Music’’ produced the hit “Daily
  Bread’’ and a video that made VH1’s top ten in 2005. For years 
 he toured with The Roots and has made cameos in various films and TV
  shows. In 2007 he made his cinematic debut in a starring role in the 
 Academy Award nominated film Across The Universe where he performed 
 the new definitive version of George Harrison’s “While My Guitar G
