Sharooz (La Bombe – UK)
Starting his musical career at the age of 12, Sharooz began playing guitar in punk bands in his native Northern Ireland during the mid-90s, before progressing to dance music in '98. His first gigs took the form of live PAs, playing alongside the likes of King Unique, Peace Division and Inland Knights at the legendary Smokescreen free parties.
After a short spell working at London Records, Sharooz produced his first release; a remix of Afro Medusa's 'Dreams' on Beautiful Noise, subsequently licensed to Warner Music in 2002. Following this came a number of major label remixes including US soul sensations Calvin Richardson and Angie Irons. The latter was picked up by New York's Robbins Music and licensed across the world, appearing on various labels and compilations.
During this time Sharooz's DJing profile began to rise, leading to gigs at Space and Cafe Mambo in Ibiza, Turnmills in London and Passion in Coalville to name but a few. Over the past 7 years Sharooz has DJ'ed alongside such luminaries as Pete Tong, Marshall Jefferson, Terry Francis and even Shaun Ryder.
Under his Monofonic guise, Sharooz has worked with Mercury Music Prize nominee Martina Topley-Bird, composed production music for BMG Zomba and EMI and designed sound libraries for the likes of Sample Magic and Zero-G.
In May 2006, Sharooz released the club smash 'Hell Yeah' on Mofohifi records. Played eight times in a row by Judge Jules and Pete Tong on Radio 1, it won the support of the world's biggest DJs: Robbie Rivera, Roger Sanchez, David Guetta, Stonebridge, Max Graham, Richard Grey, XFM, Capital FM, Galaxy FM and debuted at no.2 in the DMC Buzz Chart and Cool Cuts Chart. Subsequently it appeared on the Judge Jules mixed Judgement Sundays album on Ministry of Sound and licensed to France's Royal Flush and Full Force records. In September, Sharooz followed 'Hell Yeah' with a storming 3 track EP, 'Masterblaster' on Milk & Sugar's red hot Rotor label. With a US release on San Diego based Fortune Music, look out for floor-pounding new mixes from Kid Icarus and Mike Balance in early 2007.
Capitalizing on the success of 'Hell Yeah', Sharooz has completed a brace of remixes in the past 6 months, including Sex In Dallas's 'Forever Young' for Record Makers, Flower Power's 'I've Found The Love' on Oxyd Records, Delicious vs Jan-W's '3rd Floor' on Kid Massive's Itsoundslike imprint, Howard Jones's 'Stir It Up' on DTox Records and Deltawave's 'Tear It Up' on Mofo Hifi. At present, Sharooz is remixing Maniac Heads 'Emotions' for Kitschy Records and a new release on Phatjak's forthcoming Mokilok imprint as well as focusing on the hotly tipped follow-up to 'Hell Yeah'.
