Record Release for " Blaqkout"

Thursday, June 11th, prolific multi-platinum producer and recording artist, DJ Quik will hit the stage at the illustrious Ruby Skye to celebrate the release of the eagerly awaited “Blaqkout,” album. Quik will be rocking live on stage with his 5-piece funk band and vocalist.

Quik, and Dogg Pound affiliate and rapper extraordinaire Kurupt are two of the best-known West Coast representatives in Rap and Hip Hop, period. The pair have teamed up to create a cutting-edge sound on Blaqkout, a full-length collaboration album conceptualized during Snoop Dogg’s Ego Trippin’ recording sessions and masterminded by DJ Quik.

Since the Platinum selling Quik is the Name hit stores in 1991, DJ Quik has carved a well defined and respected niche in the rap game. With four gold and platinum albums and production work with 2Pac, Talib Kweli, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Janet Jackson, Tony, Toni, Tone and Dr. Dre to his credit, DJ Quik stands as one of hip-hop's most consistent artists and musicians.

With a slew of Billboard Awards under his belt, this Compton, California native set the bar high for street oriented hip-hop, raising the standard with well crafted production and dense musicianship. His lyrics are always honest and straightforward and his beats stay dense and fonky.

Considering his conspicuous beginnings as a gangster rapper, Quik eventually transformed himself into a funk driven band leader and front man. Because of this, he has an unusually varied fanbase, from die-hard roughneck rap devotees to the most erudite backpackers and everything in-between.

Friday’s show will include futuristic slap support from Bay Area quick rising stars, Trackademicks whose Fool’s Gold single is currently setting clubs on fire and the Kev Choice Ensemble fresh off Zion I Takeover tour. Local hero and restaurant owner, DJ Mr.E will keep the party live in between sets and before and after the show. Doors are at 8:00pm, show is at 9:00pm.

Cole Lumpkin Moves With the Music, Letting Life Shape Every Note

Cole Lumpkin doesn’t create from a distance. He creates from inside the moment. As a New York City native, his artistry reflects motion, curiosity, and constant self-interrogation. Music for Lumpkin isn’t something you step into once everything is figured out. It’s something you carry with you, refine on the move, and allow to grow alongside real life. A self-taught…See More
