 n infant, she faced many challenges. It was later realized that she wa
 s born with an extremely rare condition known as \"Chromozone 17QDelet
 ion\". Although there is a name, it is still considered an \"unknown d
 iagnosis\". Alicia's condition includes challenges in sight, speech, h
 earing, range of motion,and developmental delays. She was also born wi
 th Gastric Intestinal issues. She has had multiple surgeries to correc
 t her GI problems. This area is a cause for concern. Mid January she w
 as admitted for an emergency blood transfusion and subjected to a batt
 ery of tests for possible GI bleed. With that ongoing, she is schedule
 d to have major back surgery in March to correct a severe curve in her
  upper back. The condition is called \"Thoracic Kyphosis\". They will 
 place stainless steel rods, screws and bolts along her spine to correc
 t the curve. Alicia will be in the operating room approximately 7-9 ho
 urs with 1 day in ICU and a 5 day hospital stay. Alicia is now 12 year
 s old and still her spirits are high and her smile is unforgettable.\n
