One of the most representative voices of the Cuban Nueva Trova movement since 1972, along with Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanes, Noel Nicola, and others.
He has performed in more than 30 countries from Latin America, Europe and Africa and shared the stage with Luis Eduardo Aute and Juan Carlos Senante (Spain), Isabel Parra and Inti Illimani (Chile), León Gieco and Mercedes Sosa (Argentina), Jackson Browne, Pete Seeger, Holly Near and Little Stevens (United States), Alí Primera and Cecilia Todd (Venezuela) and many others. He has 8 personal records including CRÉEME (1978), NO SÉ QUEDARME (1985), ARTEPORÉTICA (1990), AURORA (1995), ANSIAS DEL ALBA – along with Santiago Feliú (1997), GUEVARIANAS (1997), A GUITARRA LIMPIA (1998) and COLIBRÍ (2000).
Currently he directs the project "Canto de Todos". For his work and dedication he has received a great number of awards, prizes and medals.
