Event Description

MIGHTY presents Spirit Catcher Live Friday November 14th
San Francisco, CA (October 21, 2008) – MIGHTY plays host to the The Belgium Dynamic Duo of Jean Vanesse and Thomas Sohet famously known around the world as Spirit Catcher on Friday November 14th 2008. This event is part of a brief 2 week North American tour and marks Spirit Catcher’s San Francisco debut. Vanesse & Sohet will be performing their fierce 2 hour live show. With a combination of keyboards and percussion, expect an explosive cross pollination of electronic funk, disco, house, and deep rolling basslines certain to excersice Mighty's massive sound system.

Spirit Catcher - In their seven years together they've sprinkled their deep future disco sounds onto an impressive list of labels such as Freerange, SAW Recordings, Moodmusic, 2020Vision and NRK and remixed a list of artists as long as your arm. If you've been following electrohouse closely, you might have caught Spirit Catcher cuts on compilations such as Ewan Pearson's 'Sci-Fi-Hi-Fi Vol.1' and Seamus Haji's 'Sessions'.

Both have a diversity of experience and a wide variety of influences citing Kings of Jazz, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones through to classic 80s boogie sounds of Prince and Chic/Nile Rogers and Detroit techno pioneers such as Juan Atkins and Derrick May as major forces in their own productions. Jean's father is a sound engineer so he grew up in and around studios, constantly meeting musicians and singers. At the age of 12 he had his first drum lesson and began experimenting with analog synths releasing his first record at the tender age of 17. Thomas on the other hand worked his way through the musical ranks playing in various Belgium funk bands, gigging all over the country.

Also on the bill - Scottish transplant Chris Orr ( bananaspam.com) whose 22 year dj career has amassed a huge collection representing every conceivable genre.

Advance tickets are available at www.wantickets.com as well as "All Access" tickets which include top shelf open bar, “head-of-line” expedited entry. For more info, please visit www.mighty119.com.

MIGHTY – Voted “Best New Club in America” by Urb Magazine, MIGHTY has featured top DJ’s from around the world. MIGHTY boasts a world class RLA sound system lovingly restored by San Francisco’s premier sound company JK Sound.

Prentice Grant: From Vauxhall to Legacy — The Rise of an Independent Hip-Hop Force

The first time Prentice Grant realized music could change his life, he was just a kid in Vauxhall, New Jersey, staring at the TV. Two kids not much older than him were on the screen — backwards clothes, fearless energy, commanding the world. It was Kris Kross performing “Jump.”And in that moment, something clicked. It wasn’t just the beat.It wasn’t just the crowd. It was the power. From that day forward, Prentice didn’t just listen to hip-hop — he became it.He sharpened his pen studying legends.…See More
