On Thursday, Questlove announced he’d be hosting an eight-lesson MasterClass on DJing. The class will help users explore DJ techniques, expand their musical vocabularies, and curate a perfect playlist. Find more info and preview the course at MasterClass.
“It’s one thing to listen to music, but it’s another thing to embrace it and have it come to you,” Questlove said in a press release. “Nothing will take the place of the passion that I feel for music, and I hope my MasterClass will open up a portal in your heart so that you learn to love music, find it and appreciate it.”
MasterClass founder David Rogier spoke glowingly of Quest, explaining that his “storied career and unparalleled knowledge and passion for music has made him a music icon and one of the most influential individuals in the industry.”
Questlove recently debuted Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) at the Sundance Film Festival. The documentary–focused on the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival–won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. The documentary has been picked up by Searchlight Pictures and Hulu. Subsequently, he is set to direct a documentary about Sly Stone.
For producers interested in the concept, Timbaland will also host a class on producing and beatmaking. Alicia Keys is hosting a class on songwriting and producing. Get access to these and more by subscribing to MasterClass for $15 per month.
