On Thursday afternoon, Thundercat premiered the video for “Dragonball Durag,” a track as silly as it is funky. The song is the second single from his upcoming album, It Is What It Is.
In the video, the Grammy Award-winning guitarist attempts to serenade actress/writer Quinta Brunson, Kali Uchis, and HAIM. Unfortunately for him, the durag and dance moves weren’t quite enough.
“This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that,” he said previously in a press release. “It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life, you come across places that you don’t necessarily understand… some things just aren’t meant to be understood.”
