The goal of this summit may have been to make Ukraine seem more aligned with NATO, but "they actually revealed that the alliance was split" when they did not offer a timeline for Ukraine's membership, says Stephen Wertheim, senior fellow in the American Statecraft Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Wertheim says the real result of this summit was Ukraine moving to an "armed neutrality" or "Israel model," where international allies supply long-term economic and security assistance to the country. The NATO summit also resulted in a communiqué criticizing China's growing military power, saying Beijing's actions are threatening the security of NATO nations. In an amazing discovery last week, a team searching a Mississippi courthouse basement for evidence in the case uncovered an unserved 1955 arrest warrant charging that same woman for Till's kidnapping. Included in that team were relatives of Till. They are now calling for the woman, Carolyn Bryant Donham, now in her eighties, to be arrested. Deborah Watts, cousin of Emmett Till, joins Joy Reid saying, "Carolyn needs to be brought to justice." We speak with Phyllis Bennis, fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, who warns that the U.S. warplanes and drones will continue to bomb the country. ”ISIS has not been 'defeated,' and the U.S. should not remain in Syria militarily,” Bennis says. “You cannot defeat terrorism militarily. Terrorism is a phenomenon that emerges out of social and economic and national and all kinds of crises, in all kinds of countries. And stopping it doesn’t mean playing whack-a-mole with your military.” "She's Baldly Lying": Dana Frank Responds to Hillary Clinton's Defense of Her Role in Honduras Coup tag:trueskool.com,2016-04-13:1464587:Video:647271 2016-04-13T22:54:14.691Z Editor's Pick http://trueskool.com/profile/RentheVinylArchaeologist

Published on Apr 13, 2016

As Hillary Clinton seeks to defend her role in the 2009 Honduras coup, we speak with Dana Frank, an expert on human rights and U.S. policy in Honduras. "This is breathtaking that she’d say these things. I think we’re all kind of reeling that she would both defend the coup and defend her own role in supporting its stabilization in the aftermath," Frank says. "I want to make sure that the listeners understand how chilling it is that a leading presidential candidate in the United States would say this was not a coup. … She’s baldly lying when she says we never called it a coup."

http://democracynow.org
