Obama took the action in response to the case of New York City teenager Kalief Browder, who committed suicide in 2015 at the age of 22. In 2010, when Kalief was just 16, he was sent to Rikers Island, without trial, on suspicion of stealing a backpack. He always maintained his innocence and demanded a trial. Instead, he spent the next nearly three years at Rikers—nearly 800 days of that time in solitary confinement. Here in Park City, Utah, at the Sundance Film Festival, Democracy Now! got an exclusive interview with Jay Z as he premieres his new docuseries, "Time: The Kalief Browder Story."

Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs weekdays on nearly 1,400 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday. It was one of the most anticipated debates in U.S. history. Ahead of the event, TV network executives predicted as many as 100 million people across the United States would tune in. Many more also watched from around the world, including across Asia, Europe and in Latin America. But these viewers did not see any third-party candidates on stage. So, in a Democracy Now! broadcast special, we invited Dr. Jill Stein to respond to the same questions posed to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Watch more at: http://democracynow.org Ex-CIA Agent, Whistleblower John Kiriakou Interview on Democracy Now! tag:trueskool.com,2013-01-31:1464587:Video:162290 2013-01-31T16:24:30.119Z Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist http://trueskool.com/profile/xh51jvilojur

DemocracyNow.org - Former CIA agent John Kiriakou speaks out just days after he was sentenced to 30 months in prison, becoming the first CIA official to face jail time for any reason relating to the U.S. torture program. Under a plea deal, Kiriakou admitted to a single count of violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act by revealing the identity of a covert officer to a freelance reporter, who did not publish it. Supporters say Kiriakou is being unfairly targeted for having been the first CIA official to publicly confirm and detail the Bush administration's use of waterboarding. Kiriakou joins to discuss his story from Washington, D.C., along with his attorney, Jesselyn Radack, director of National Security and Human Rights at the Government Accountability Project. "This was not a case about leaking, it was a case about torture. I believe I am going to prison because I blew the whistle on torture," Kiriakou says. "My oath was to the Constitution. ... And to me, torture is unconstitutional."

Watch this full interview at: http://www.democracynow.org/appearances/john_kiriakou

Part 2
Consensus (Direct Democracy @ Occupy Wall Street) tag:trueskool.com,2011-10-15:1464587:Video:104952 2011-10-15T16:12:35.932Z Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist http://trueskool.com/profile/xh51jvilojur

A look into the "HOW" of the Occupy Wall Street movement: The consensus process.

The community of occupiers at Liberty Plaza have sparked the process of building a movement that now transcends any one physical landmark.
