Ice Cube Adds Section for Black Women to His Contract With Black America

Legendary rapper Ice Cube has ruffled many feathers in the past few months. From meeting with the Donald Trump administration about his Contract With Black America to speaking at a right-wing Zionist conference, there’s plenty to be confused about. On Tuesday, Cube amended the controversial contract, adding two sections focused on Black women and Black athletes.

Cube enlisted the help of lawyers Kamilah Moore and Maureen Simmons for “Additional Concerns Regarding Black Women.” The section acknowledges civil rights-era forced sterilizations and the lack of protections afforded to Black women under the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments.

“After emancipation,” the section reads, “Black American women descendants of chattel slavery were still subject to state-sanctioned violence in the form of racial terror (lynchings), forced sterilization, and the denial of civil rights afforded to them under the 13th, 14th, and 19th Amendments. Today, Black American women live in the ‘afterlife’ of chattel slavery, and thus, continue to face unique challenges derived from the enslavement and subjugation of their ancestors.”
