An East Bay music venue abruptly pulled the plug on a DJ night scheduled for Friday just hours in advance due to an offensive flyer and social media posts advertising the event. Friday afternoon on Instagram, Oakland’s Thee Stork Club reposted a flier for the “First Friday Freak-Off” with a big red X across the page, signifying the event had been canceled.
“BRUH. Tonight’s DJ set has been cancelled and will be replaced and curated by @paydayI0an,” the club wrote. “We don’t make the fliers for the shows that get booked here and for the most part the ig posts for shows are on a schedule and we didn’t catch the issue about the reprehensible content of this one until the community let us know.”
