In March 2016, it was announced that Prince was going to be releasing an official memoir called The Beautiful Ones. One month later, the legendary singer died at the age of 57.
Status of the book was unclear, until last year when Prince’s publishing agent, ICM Partners’ Esther Newberg, announced that the book was still going to be released. (Newberg said Prince had about 50 handwritten pages completed.) On Monday, April 22nd, the publication date for the book has been announced.
Random House, who is publishing the book, told The Associated Press that The Beautiful Ones will be published on October 29th. The book will include Prince’s unfinished manuscript, rare photos, scrapbooks, lyrics from certain songs, and an introduction from New Yorker writer Dan Piepenbring. (Prince personally chose Dan to help with the book.)
The Beautiful Ones is the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know: the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him.
This past week was the third year anniversary of Prince’s death.
