For the second consecutive year, Dave Chappelle has won big at the Grammy Awards. One year ago, the comedian took home his first trophy for 2017’s Dave Chappelle: The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas. The win was for “Best Comedy Album.”
A few hours ago (February 10), Chappelle won in the same category for Dave Chappelle: Equanimity & The Bird Revelation. This portion of tonight’s Grammy Awards was not televised.
The stand-up comedian, writer, and actor bested fellow nominees Patton Oswalt (Annihilation), Fred Armisen (Standup For Drummers), Chris Rock (Tamborine), and Jim Gaffigan (Noble Ape).
Like 2018’s win, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation is two Netflix specials combined. They released on December 31, 2017. Equanimity was filmed in September 2017 at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C., near where Chappelle grew up. The Bird Revelation taped at Los Angeles, California’s The Comedy Store on November 20, 2017.
All four Grammy-winning specials were taped in 2017.
