Jack White’s ever-growing shit list just got longer. The musician posted a series of photos on Instagram that picture former president Donald Trump with different celebrities, including Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg. White called out all the photographed parties for “normalizing” Trump in his caption.

“Anybody who ‘normalizes’ or treats this disgusting fascist, racist, con man, disgusting piece of shit Trump with any level of respect is ALSO disgusting in my book,” he wrote. “That’s you Joe Rogan, you Mel Gibson, you Mark Wahlberg, you Guy Fieri. This is a statement from me, not a discussion/debate.”

Jody Lo has proven to be one of the most promising artists out of Winston Salem and possibly the entire North Carolina. After a flux of consistently artistic releases since 2018 we finally get the first official Jody Lo album and the overall project is FIRE. Flowing almost perfectly to each beat, the lyricism is phenomenally satisfying and the beat selection was actually pretty dope as well, both complimentary to one another. Album features verses from Dogg Pound’s Kurupt, Kxng Crooked, Ras Kass & more.

The reaction to the news was mixed.

One person who isn’t all-in on a sequel is Nino Brown himself Wesley Snipes. The actor sat down with Shadow And Act’s Brooke Obie while promoting his new movie Dolemite Is My Name. During the interview he was asked about a new New Jack City movie, Snipes said: “I’m not associated with it. I have nothing to do with it at all.”

BY ERIC DIEP • JUL 30, 2019

In 2017, the six-episode podcast Mogul: The Life and Death of Chris Lighty from Gimlet Media and the Loud Speakers Network debuted to widespread critical acclaim. Narrated by Reggie Ossé, better known as Combat Jack, the series told the story of hip-hop through the life of one man, who managed hip-hop heavyweights like 50 Cent, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, and more. Ossé admitted in the first episode that he was all about getting fashionably fly, and so was Lighty, which is why he was drawn to his story.

“In some ways, me and Chris lived parallel lives,” he said. “We both grew up in New York City around the same era. Chris in the Bronx, and me in Brooklyn. Like so many city kids, we fell in love with the hip-hop culture that was starting to take shape around us. We dedicated our lives to this.”

Ossé’s dedication to hip-hop was what made him so relatable. As a former entertainment lawyer, he worked diligently behind-the-scenes and earned the trust of his clients. As a blogger and host of his podcast The Combat Jack Show, he was an intelligent hip-hop curator that spoke in our language. For any of his guests, he treated them like family, asking them the right questions that created more robust conversations.

Internets, this is such an honor.
It's been few years of me trying to get the legendary Chuck D on The Combat Jack Show. It took current events, plus the Freddie Foxxx episode to make this happen (thank you Bumpy!). How do I even describe this 3 hour long discussion with Chuck D and Keith Shocklee? Def Jam, Hot 97, Dr. Dre, N.W.A., Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, Marley Marl, Flavor Flav, Eric B and Rakim, COINTELPRO, Run-DMC, the Bomb Squad, the dearth of diversity on rap radio... so much knowledge.

What I'm walking away with is how we have the power to control how we're perceived in this culture. And how we have to stop making excuses. Now. Ladies and gents, we present to you, the Episode Without A Pause.
