SUMMARY:Souls of Mischief at de Young Museum (San Francisco)
DESCRIPTION:\r\nSaturday, December 14\r\nReaffirm the Right to Gather
Publicly with Souls of Mischief\r\n@ de Young museum: Golden Gate Park
\ 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, San Francisco, CA\r\n11am-4pm. All Ag
es. \r\n>> GET TICKETS\r\n\r\nThe legendary Bay Area hip-hop group So
uls of Mischief are coming to the de Young. The day includes a film sc
reening of their documentary 'Til Infinity: The Souls of Mischief, fol
lowed by a panel with Opio, Phesto, Tajai and A-Plus followed by a per
formance in our Wilsey Court.\r\nThe Age of Black Power exploded into
political consciousness when groups of marginalized people assembled t
o assert their right to exist in their own communities. People of colo
r could not gather and demonstrate in a public space without the threa
t of the government labeling them as subversive; the government would
later go on to murder many of these men, women, and children for their
beliefs. Today, this is still an unfortunate reality for many.\r\nIn
response, the Souls of Mischief crew have designed a special day of ev
ents hosted in our public space, the de Young, reaffirming the right o
f communities of color to gather publicly in the Bay Area and beyond a
nd proving that public institutions belong to ALL the people.\r\nAtten
