 rice Fulton was born under a crossfire hurricane. (Oh,no he wasn't.) T
 hat was Mick Jagger wasn't it? Whatever. Anyway, Maurice Fulton was bo
 rn somewhere, probably Baltimore, but we'd need to carbon-date him to 
 be sure. Early in his life, Maurice realized he wanted to be a marine 
 biologist. He had the snorkel. He had the flippers. He had some pictur
 es of cute dolphins. (Aww, bless.) Then it all went wrong. He started 
 buying records, thinking they were sub-aquatic aids and before he real
 ized, he was DJing in nightclubs (he was looking for porpoises and too
 k the wrong turning at the bathroom). Since becoming an internationall
 y renowned DJ he has lived everywhere from New York to Australia, Lond
 on to Sheffield. He presently lives in a croft on the Shetland Isles, 
 where he weaves wool and communes with nature. We like his wool. But n
 ot as much as his disco.\n\nMaurice Fulton is one of house music’s t
 rue originals, an eccentric ex-pat American DJ and producer who never 
 fails to surprise and delight his listeners. His first album since the
  leftfield Stories Of A Broken Heart And Recovering which he recorded 
 as Ladyvipb (for Nuphonic) is an altogether more accessible and dancef
 loor friendly affair... Maurice Fulton has been round the block in mor
 e ways than one, not only did he have a hand in producing Gypsy Woman 
 by Crystal Waters, one of the most successful house tunes of the early
  ‘90s; he is the darling of both the underground house and leftfield
  scenes with an enviable back catalog, he also has a capacity for land
 ing himself ‘in the soup’. Maurice is one of those hapless individ
 uals to which trouble swarms like wasps to a honey pot. His most recen
 t ‘situation’ saw him arrive home to find his record collection ha
 d been sold by his jealous girlfriend who, after discovering an unsoli
 cited e-mail from a lady fan, suspected him of playing away from home.
